Our Story
What began as a small group of five volunteers committed to meeting real community needs has grown into a trusted nonprofit resource hub serving Eagle Pass and beyond. What started as a grassroots effort quickly turned into meaningful action, expanding into programs that increase access to care, reduce barriers, and strengthen community connection. We are a network of community members and advocates who turn lived stories and experience into real, lasting impact. As we move forward with the same love and dedication that sparked our beginning, SAFE continues to expand access, build opportunity, and create pathways to well-being for more of our community.

Our mission is to leverage lived experience as collective memory to inform scalable solutions that strengthen systems locally and globally. Our vision is a world where systems are shaped by lived experience, communities are seen and valued, and people everywhere have what they need to thrive.
Our Core Initatives
Programs designed to expand access, reduce barriers, and strengthen connection through initiatives like the Eagle Pass Public Health Coalition, Community Transformation Alliance for Civic Engagement, It’s For Me Closet, the Ryan White Program, and additional community-driven efforts that work together to support health, dignity, and long-term well-being for all.

How We Got Here

SAFE is a community-based organization rooted in care, connection, and lived experience. We operate as a resource hub and linkage to care, connecting individuals and families to essential support that promotes health, dignity, and long-term well-being.
Our work is guided by Stories, Agency, Futures, and Environments, a framework that centers community voice, shared leadership, and sustainable systems of care. Through trusted relationships, cultural celebration, and access to resources, SAFE creates welcoming spaces where people feel supported and empowered.
