SAFE Executive Director and Eagle Pass City Councilman Elias Diaz has been selected to present at the International AIDS Society Conference AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Meet Elias Diaz
Elias Diaz is a mental health clinician, public health advocate, elected official, and Co-Founder of SAFE. His work focuses on HIV prevention, behavioral health, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, rural health systems, and community-driven leadership.
As the first openly LGBTQIA+ elected official in Eagle Pass, Texas, Elias brings a powerful perspective on building coalitions, reducing stigma, and creating sustainable systems of care in rural border communities.
